Survive...Don't Suffer

TARP

If you can't pack a survival tent, a Tarp can be used as a Tarp Tent, and is an excellent option. A good Tarp can easily be rigged as a Tarp Tent and can be configured in many different shapes. A Tarp Tent will also keep you and your gear dry, takes up very little room in your pack (without significantly increasing weight), and of course, a Tarp is much cheaper than a Tent.

But even if you don't intend to use a Tarp as a Tarp Tent, a good Tarp has tons of additional uses. Among them are; to cover extra gear and firewood, to rig a dining canopy, as an extra rain fly, as a ground cloth ...in fact, the things a good Tarp can be used for is limited only by your imagination.
